Important note! Video recordings!
Dear library visitors!
From September 2 to 14, 2024, a field trial will take place here at Bottrop City Library with three robots that you can talk to at will. The aim of this study is to better understand the interaction between robots and library visitors in order to gain insights for the design of future human-robot interactions. The interaction with the robots will be filmed throughout, so please only go near the robots and interact with them if you agree to the video recording! Participation is only permitted from the age of 18 and is voluntary. You can interact with the robot for as long as you like and stop the interaction at any time without any consequences.
Notes on data protection:
Video recordings will be made of you in the marked areas around the three robots. These will be analyzed as part of the RuhrBots project in order to gain a better understanding of the requirements for robots in public institutions. The (transcripts of the) videos will be anonymized, i.e. names and locations will be removed or alienated. No names or addresses are used in the results of the research or any other information that could be used to identify you as a person. By entering the marked area, you agree to the described collection, processing and use of the recordings and consent to their general use for research purposes. This means that the recordings can be used for new and modified research purposes, including those that are not yet foreseeable at the time of implementation. For this purpose, the anonymized data is stored for 10 years after data evaluation and then deleted. To interact with the robots, you will need a QR code, which you can obtain from the library staff or the head of studies. You can also use this number to request the deletion of your data at a later date if you wish.
The RuhrBots project:
The „RuhrBots“ competence center is researching citizen-oriented and user-friendly social robots in the city administrations of the Ruhr metropolis. The aim is to reduce barriers to use and make social robots more accessible. Further information on the project can be found at: ruhrbots.de
